ls6 cam

whats the tech figures on a ls6cam that GM seems to sell for $185? would this work well in an otherwise stock 6.0 engine or is it more tuned for a high reving piece like that in the z06 car it comes from ?

From the research I have done the LS6 cam will basically mirror the stock 6.0 cam up to about 5k rpm...from there it continues to climb and with stock heads will give another 20-30 ponies up to about 6300rpm. It would be a good cam (especially for the price) if you want a killer top end pull. You will need the LS6 springs and retainers of course and need to bump up your shift points/rev limiter to take full advantage of the cam. I don't think you would lose any low-end torque and you may even gain some, especially if you installed some roller rockers and headers as well.

It's a decent cheap cam. A bigger dual pattern is a better choice and have been for sale occasionally (sp?) for good pricing. 214/220 .540" 114LSA would idle great, make a ton of power all over, and probably still pass the sniffer.
