Default LS2 truck intake

Assuming all issues such as connecting the fuel rails and injectors to the existing fuel system, wiring up the new TB to the existing harness, and putting together a CAI, does anyone think that a LS2 truck intake manifold and 90mm TB would be of any benefit on a heads/cam 5.3?

I have heads on the way, and may upgrade to a bigger cam, just looking for a way to squeeze all available hp out of this thing N/A. I've also considered swapping to a LS6 or FAST 78, but the additional work to get the accessory drive out of the way is too much, plus everyone says that power will be lost in the low rpm range.

If I could find an intake manifold used, or if anyone has the part number, I'd be willing to try to figure this out and test it for the truck community.

Yep, it's also on LS2 equipped SSRs. There was one for sale here a few months back. I should have jumped on it.

I heard that it only has a bigger diameter on the TB side then gets smaller on the inside. I know Big Tex had talked about this before. I haven't heard of the intake making a big difference, I dont think anyone has tired it though. I know Allen Nelson told me he saw a 10-15 HP gain with the Fast 90/90 combo on a 408.

Suffice to say the LS2 intake is not an upgrade, even to an LS1. They don't flow that well.

Yes, I know that the car LS2 manifold is not that great compared to even a LS6 manifold, but what about the LS2 truck version v. regular truck intake?

Matt, the FAST 90/90, do you know if that was v. a regular truck manifold?

1200 for 15hp sucks IMO. I think that this conversion wouldnt be worth the time/money it would take to do it but if you feel you must get some dyno numbers please.

I'm not taking about a Fast 90/90 swap. A complete LS2 truck manifold with fuel rails went for $275 on ebay. So add in the $400 (conservative) for a TB plus incidentals and we're between 700-800 bucks. Still not cheap, but maybe there is additional performance to be found in this intake. Maybe not so much for me, but what about stroker guys like you? I love how people are so quick to dismiss a new idea without a logical reason why. This is what hot rodding is about - trying new things and exploring every option to get the maximum performance from your vehicle.
