Question LS1edit questions..

I'm helping my brother in law with his truck with edit. Since his is an auto and I have a manual M6 car there are things I and wondering about. Plus it seems a little different period..

1) Rev limiter is set to 6k. Stock shift point in performance mode is 5200 1-2 and 2-3. Can this be changed to 56-5700 with no problems?

2) What are you guys doing to change the slow shifts?

3) Will taking TQM out with a almost stock truck going to hurt?

4) Speedometer settings will be changed to 150 under both limits and electronic throttle. Is that ok?

5) The timing tables seem real low, 17* max @ .72-1.2 / 4k rpm. It goes back down from there. I changed it to +15% (19.6*) and went and made a pull. It was showing 28.5* at WOT in the upper RPM's. Whats up with that?

I also plan on changing the timing tables from .6-1.2 @3k+ up until I get KR and then back them down a couple degrees. I'll be adjusting in 2* incraments and doing A-tap runs each time. Is that going to be an issue?

6) Changing PE to 2400 rpm instead of the 5500 stock.

Thanks in advance for your input..

1) Performance mode on the trucks is tow/haul mode so I dont know if that is the one you want to change or not but you can move them up no problems. I have mine set at 5900.

2) Spend $15 on a vette servo, increase line pressures at higher throttle and zero out the shift speed table.

3) Depends on if you do suggestion above and how much power his truck is making. On a nearly stock truck like you said, I would have to say it is ok.

4) I have my speed limiter set at 140.

5) The mysterioius truck timming issue. We havent been able to figure this one out yet. But it sounds like you have the right idea to adjust the timing though.

6) I dont see why it would hurt as long as it is at the right tps.

1) if you really want to push that damn button everytime, your settings for performance mode is the tow/haul mode like bigkid said. you can also raise the shift points higher than 5900, they will take at least that. and definately DO NOT zero out your shift speed table. your transmission COULD overlap shifts and cause damage to the transmission.

2)there is more to the "corvette servo" than just replacing the round piece of aluminum in the tranny. ie. more parts.

3)no

4)you only need ot set your speed limiter in the "speed limit" section. the others don't apply here.

5)adjust your timing after you get everything else set up.

6)don't change the PE unless you need to. it will just slow it down if it is too fat. read the plugs!

On question 1.. Does the mph need to match the rpm for it to shift properly?

When you say they can be changed higher than 5900 rpm, would you recomend that on stock valve train? I know the 01-02 f-bods have the same cam and are set to 6200. Would 6200 be ok?

No, they dont. The pcm will use the greatest value at wot so all you need to change is the value on the main trans screen. I wouldnt set it to 6200. I dont believe you will see any benifits from reving it that high. Unless you have done intake, headers and exhaust, I wouldnt take it much over 5800. You valve train would probablly go to 6200 but you wont be making any power up there on a stock motor.
