Default Cowl hood help with performance

Just wondering since the cowl hood has an opening in the back I would think that it lets heat out of the engine compartment which in turn lowers under hood temps. Have any of you guys with cowl hoods noticed a reduction in underhood temps? Also I noticed on the Goodmark cowl hood that on the opening in the back, there is a section that has holes drilled in it, would it be more functional if I cut that entire section out to release more heat out of the engine compartment?

I personaly don't like Cowl Hoods. They are good for about 90 pounds off your front end so technically they are a weight reduction mod.

I have the Goodmark cowl induction hood. I have not noticed any temp reduction, at least not by monitoring IAT, coolant emp, and trans temp with A-Tap. The only thing you will notice is now you can see light from the headlights through that section with the holes in it. And it is as heavy if not heavier than the stock hood-no 90 lb weight reduction.

yeah, not much weight or heat loss here either. but what they are good for is collecting pine needles, always getting stuck behind the cowl!
