Default LS1 transplant underway

Well the RCSB 03 5.3 did pretty good. Ran 13.92 at 98 mph with a 2.21 60'. Had tuning, 4.10's, servos, 215/215 cam, ASP, CIA as the only mods, that's on 20's and street tires. Bad thing is that 215 cam is that it made killer power in the high rpms (319rwhp) but sluggish under 4000rpm IMO. Converter would have helped a ton I'm sure.

Anyway poor 5.3 gave it up a few days ago and I have LS1 longblock sitting here from a 01 fbody. Putting a B1 cam in it to keep the lope to a minimum but make good power. Got the pacesetter headers and off road ypipe from TSP today..nice looking pieces and arranging to have a TT3200 next week. I don't have a clue what it's gonna run but tirespin will be a b!tch I'm sure and probably what will limit the ET's. If I get time I'll get some pics. Can't wait to get it in next weekend already have the 5.3 on ground.

My guess is 12's easily with good traction. BTW, what happened to the 5.3L, its only an 03' right?

intake manifold had leak on the intake port to cylinder causing it to run lean on just that cylinder..piston didn't like.

Have engine set in with pacesetters bolted up. All thats left is to put in tranny/converter, intake wiring exhaust etc. I am surprised everything just switched right over from the 5.3. I think the only thing that was different is the AC bracket, it has three bolts holding it in instead of four, should hold fine though. Come morning she should be going.

See sig for times w/ my TR224'd LS1 swap. That was on a 2.3 short time too. I'd guess mid-low 13s at 102-3 should be pretty easy.

Best o' luck!

Well she's a done deal. The TT3200 is pretty loose, talk about not getting any traction in first and halfway through 2nd. The headers made a big difference in sound. Sounds great. Specs on the B1 are 221/211 .558/.558 on a 114lsa. It has a nice lope and not as aggressive as the 215/215 in the 5.3 which is good. Like to get some track times soon but will need some tires for sure that will handle the hit of converter. It's definitely lighter up front, truck sits about an inch higher in the front, wonder if V6 sorings might drop it back down and soften the front end back up.

Believe it or not, my TT3000 felt like it tightened up a bit after about 200 miles or so. People around here said it would and it did. Once you get a few miles on it and get used to driving it with the converter you will be able to do better as far as bringing it off goes. Not that tire spin won't be a problem, it will, but you will find ways of making it LESS of a problem. Any pics of the truck? Congrats' on the install.
