Here is a link to some s-10 headers for an LS1 that WERE on Ebay. I saw a guy who was selling a complete book on EBAY on a S-10 LS1 swap for $30, but I couldn't find it again. He also had the truck on there for $17,500, and it looked like a real sweet job. Check Ebay, maybe someone can find the guy I'm talking about.

I knew a guy on ZR2.com that ran a LS1 in his S10 truck. Not sure about smog legality, but I want to say he was from Cali. If he got it to 'go' in Cali, it should be doable anywhere.

LS1Swap.com has all the info you'll need. And the kits for the complete install minus powertrain is @ $1500 i believe. Pricey yes, but it is suposed to make it a simple bolt in for the most part.

Found the guy with the Z06 Swap. Here is the link. He has gotten great feedback on Ebay with his Manual.

That guy goes by Sham or LS1Blazer on all the s-series boards. I've heard that its a pretty good book.

There are a couple guys doing LS1 swaps on my forum http://www.v8s10.org

Here is a link to a community dedicated to this www.s10v8.com . Supposedly that lees high tech trucks from the hotrod article is one of the best, he is located in pinellas park,FL just north of tampa, I talked to him about doing some crap and his prices seemed extremely high but I guess if your in demand you charge out the ***.
