the ls6 intake may flow better on a dyno Queen, but in real life the truck intake is better for the truck.

you look at bluecajuns time and see gains, well he did go with bigger injectors, asp pulley, bigger converter, higher shift points all to gain .05 in the 1/4 and you think the intake is what did it?

if blue would go back to the truck intake with the same DA the truck intake would kick the ls6's a$$
like i said before. injectors to keep my IDC happy, pulley to run the alternator instead of bypassing both p/s and alt, same S/E with this converter, better 60', trapping 107 with a small 220 cam 17* timing coming out the hole, i can go on and on...

damn this argument is still going on? hahaha

IMO Its all about how much airflow a particular setup demands and if this exceeds the capabilities of the stock truck intake

its more complicated than just trk vs ls6 intk

What was your best trap speed with the truck intake?

Here we go one more time. I'm gonna love to see you prove that the truck intake is better. I will post this again for those of you who missed it.

On my 5.3, with the only change being the ls6 intake here are my times. The first one is the truck intake, the next two are with the ls6 intake. These runs were done in full weight (4440 lbs) exept the tailgate. Other than that, the only change from the way I daily drive it is the 26" et streets.

Truck intake
rt -.258
60 -1.733
330 -5.190
1/8 -8.115
mph -83.18
1000 -10.690
1/4 -12.890
mph -didnt work

Ls6 intake Lost traction
rt -.175
60 -1.776
330 -5.217
1/8 -8.118
mph -84.07
1000 -10.664
1/4 -12.835
mph -103.66

ls6 intake Full hookup
rt -.062
60 -1.726
330 -5.154
1/8 -8.050
mph -84.24
1000 -10.591
1/4 -12.759
mph -103.82

the ls6 intake helps. Again, the only thing off of the truck was the tailgate and the back two rims were stock with mt et streets. 18's still on the front, all the seats in the truck, swaybar still on, didnt bypass any pulleys, Half a tank of gas on the ls6 intake runs, 1/4 tank of gas on the truck intake runs, TWO (2) magnaflow mufflers on the truck (20" and 18"). Anything else?

interesting you say 104 105 on a good day, since your 12.53 was at 106.73 mph right?

your best mph with the ls6 intake is 106.98, and your best time with all the extra mods is .05 better with a better DA then when you ran with the truck intake.

For all the guys running H/C (myself included) there's plenty of room to build power with a better flowing intake. The trick is to not oversize the cam and sacrifice the torque because bigger aint always better; especially when you're trying to launch 5,000lbs. This point gets F'd up waaaay too much.

If there was an easy conversion to the LS6 intake, I'd do it too and prove it's worth on the dyno and at the track while running my baby cam. But for now, look at my sheet from the day of my H/C swap and try to tell me that my motor wont benefit from getting more flow over 5k.

ps if Bluecajun (or anyone) omly picks up 5/100ths as you've stated after even just a TC, it's a tuning problem- not the intake.

your the winner here you said H/C with the ls6 intake, were talking stock heads and ls6/truck intake here, but your right if we go to better flowing heads then the ls6 intake would work better for us.

seat of the pants don't work for me, I thought the weiand intake did better but it made the truck run slower in the 1/4 and trap slower mph with my setup.

I still haven't seen where a dyno has proven better numbers with the ls6 intake over the truck intake.

Kevin, I've probably skipped over one of your posts where you have
went over this, but what will you be doing to end this argument
over the intakes? Are you going to dyno them back to back, or
what exactly do you have planned? I'm curious and interested at the
same time.

Thanks man.

I'm also curious what cam specs you guys have been/are running with these stock heads. Stock cams?
