I have got my hands on some 2000 Firebird LS1 fans. Has any one tried to activate the fans using the trucks PCM with a fbody fan wiring harness yet. I searched some threads, and saw some talk of it, but has any one actually tried it yet? Went to the dealership today, a they look at me as if I was crazy. I think the dealerships up here in Columbus don't know too much. They said our truck don't have efans, and I said no sh*t. I explained to 5 guys there for about a half-hour, even showing them the fans in my passage seat, what I was trying to do. They still all looked clueless. It would be great to have more info on this subject. Thanks!

Ya, I remember that! But has someone actually tried it yet, and/or can the dealership do it. When I got my truck it did not have the fog lights so I ordered them from GM and the dealership had to call GM for a code to activate it in my PCM. I thought it would be like that or some thing similar.
Also the dealership could not help me with the wire harness. Does anyone have access to part numbers?

Farmtruck or something like that on LS1.com did them he also is setting up LS1truck.com and has the directions to do the conversion.
I need to PM him and get the pin outs for both fans and try this out. I need to order LS1 Edit first to turn on the fans, I already have AutoTap so I can monitor coolant temps.

Check my reply about half way down in this thread:

This is not something a dealership would have the capability of doing. They can only reproduce factory programs; not custom programming like this.

I read somewhere that you use pin 42 on the PCM connector. I installed 2 electric fans on my Silverado. I did the wiring setup myself without using the PCM. I used a relay to handle the current and an inline fuse. I installed a thermostat with a potentiometer set at 185 to contol the fans. I used that little red box to tap the 12VDC off of. I removed the old clutch fan. The temp does creep up a little when I'm in traffic on a hot day with the A/C ON, but that's normal. I don't spend a lot of time in traffic tho because my truck is only used to tow my boat to the marina or bring me back and forth to a NHRA drag strip.

JWRENCH,
I was working with a diablosport tech about doing this. I have the fans wired up and ready to go. They have sent me 2 tunes that supposedly turn the fans on but they don't. I have everything wired like it is supposed to pin42. I'm going to fool with the tunes this weekend again to see if i missed something.
