ok thanks. however, i'm still in highschool working a part time job. i can't really afford to upgrade spring and pushrods at the same time as a new cam. so i'm just gonna do some cheap small stuff untill next year. the ls1 cam is bigger, so i should make more power, even if it's small gains. my dad owns a mechanic shop so i have access to all the tools, and i got plenty of weekend time to do this with.

Just wait, you'll hate yourself when you do the swap and something goes wrong like it did when Cody and I did my cam swap and then you'll end up spending a lot of money anyways.

EDIT-Use your Christmas money and buy a used LS6 cam with springs and pushrods. I bought an LS6 cam for $65 about a year ago

Would the cam in the link below be what you all are talking about?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts...1%7C240%3A1318

What kind of power gain would a 5.3 get over stock by adding a Z06 cam??

That's an ls7 cam. You need an ls6 cam from a 01-03 Ls6. The 02-03 are better than the 01 though.
