ls1 in a 98 Tahoe
#1
I have a 98 Tahoe and currently wanting to put a ls1 in it. I have a ls1 engine with everything and the computer. I also have the k-member, transmission, converter, and driveshaft. Is this possible to make work? Any mods need to be done?

With enough time and money you could make just about anything work.My suggestion would be to sell everything except the engine and go find a good buy on a 2000-2001 tahoe and swap out the 5.3, i believe it would be cheaper in the long run and you wont have an abortion on your hands if you do get it to work.BTW the K member you must be planning some chopping and grafting to fit that in?If you dont like my advised let us know when your done if you would do it again. When do you figure you will have this on the road and dialed in?

Well you probably have to notch the frame to clear the LS1 accessories. A guy on FSC did when he swapped it into his C1500. You could try the Corvette or truck accessories and they might clear everything. Hopefully you are not 4wd or it would be even more complicated. You have to make custom engine mounts, but the transmission shouldn't be near as much trouble since they are basically the same.

I think Street & Performance makes a conversion kit. Check out www.tunedport.com
Also, a member here put a LS1 into his mid-90's truck. He goes by the name Farmtruck.
