Default LS1 5.7 Conversion

I was just wondering if anyone has done this conversion in their truck. I am VERY interested in doing so, and I was looking into potential problems or setbacks. I am planning on the C5 shortblock with a set of stock Extrude Honed heads, with my magnacharger and possibly a cam upgrade. Let me know what you all think! Thanks

Use the little search button at the top. You'll find several LS1 and 6 liter installs here.

You'll be happy with the upgrade.

blown, you'd definatly be happy with a 5.7 or 6.0 setup. if you do the swap it would be crazy not to get a cam of some kind. i think richard could tell you that the LS6 cam is very nitrous friendly, which i assume would mean it is boost friendly also. i am building a slightly bored (.030") 6.0 all forged motor with an MTI hammer cam and ported 5.3 heads with slp springs and 1.85 slp rockers. and a few other goodies i've picked up in the last few weeks. these motors take greatly to these kinds of mods.

Well, you don't have many choices for an intake. The car intake would be a big pain to make fit.

With a supercharger, the torque effect of the truck intake is worthelss. The torque effect is at mid rpms and comes from having long tall runners that get air moving and force it into the chamber. With boost, its going to get forced in at all rpms, so you don't have to have the same tall runner design.

Duh, I did not even think of that! But it is better to run the stock intake, right? Should I be ok with the computer program from Magnacharger? Thanks in advance for all of your help! I really want to make this happen!

What magnacharger are you runing??
The side mount or the new radix top mount??

There is a theory that the truck intake moves more are at just about any streatable RPM dou to its size. One of the reasons the car intake is shorter (in height) is to clear the low hood lines of the F and Y body cars. Having to clear the low hood the engeniers gave up some of the intake. The efects of this are debated.

I am currently using the side mount magnacharger. I have decided to keep my current blower and upgrade the motor insted of getting the Radix set up.
