BlownChevy I don't know how to quote you but, like, how awsome would 8psi be? Also, would a LQ9 be a good platform motor to build, or should I consider a Corvette Z06 engine or others? I mostly cruise and drive aggressivly and sometimes race.

If you are gonna go with a blower of some sort, I'd start with the regular 6.0. Otherwise, yes, the LQ9 would be a good base motor. You might also consider the 5.7 for the lighter weight too.

lq4 is a much better choice for a blown 6.0 set up and is easier to find.

The SS Silverado Radix with a stock pulley will boost about 5psi. With a 3.0" pulley, it will reach a max of 7psi, on this particular truck, max boost was at the top of 3rd gear.

'03 reg cab 5.3L, Radix with a 2.9" pulley will hit 9psi. This will require tuning for sure, get in touch with The_Mexican. After the tune and pulley that truck runs pretty good.

later,

allen

Why does lower compression yeild lower boost?

If anything, I'd imagine the 'size' of the engine would change the amount of boost... not the CR.

The SS radix and 5.3L radix are the same but come with different pullies,
usually you can't run a high compression engine with a lot of boost,

So what's the diffrence between the LQ4 and the LQ9? Diffrent pistons? Is that it? There's gotta be something else diffrent. I plan on, whatever engine it may be, installing a forged rotating group, lower compression (8:1 maybe lower), and a rough idling cam and heads. Maybe bore increase, thats all the internal stuff I'll probably do. So by doing this I should probably get a LQ4? I'm confused...... my head hurts......

lq9 block has a diff. cam and flat top pistons.

if you're going boost, get the lq4, no need for the extra expense,

Okay, cool.

I thought I was hearing that the same S/C setup on a LQ4 will make less boost on a LQ9. (detonation aside) That one threw me for a loop!
