If you have the 317 heads I'd get them ported and milled to bump the comp up with some solid springs.

ya thats most likely what im going to do any advice how much i should mill them and what kind of springs the cam im going to use as a 588 lift

Exactly! The 317s flow very well to start with in stock form so I would just have yours worked over some and milled down if you want some extra compression.

The l92/l76 is really strong but not a direct swap. It involves retrofitting and modifying parts. Keep in mind you have flat top pistons on the lq9. If you mill the heads and go with a high lift cam, be sure you check the piston to valve clearance. Take it from me! Good luck on your project. It will be expensive and sometimes frustrating but is WELL worth every bit when running strong and smoking a lightning.

realy how does it work in your truck does it go good? o and im working on a 3000 or 3200 stall not sure of the pi or yank or cri d

It's not in the truck yet hopefully by next week. I ordered an Edge converter 3200 stall That's what texas speed recommended for the 228R.
