LQ9 or LQ4?

What I want to do is take out my 5.3 and put in a 6.0. But i'm not gonna supercharge it or torbo it. I know I should but due to funds thats will be a long ways away or never. Will it be a big gain? is it worth the money? I know that a supercharger wil be easier to put on my 5.3 but I want a 6.0 goddammit!
and is there a place I can buy one for a good price? can i just go to the dealership and place an order?
Should i track one down at a junkyard with the 4L80E (doed it have the 80 or 85?) already bolted up and make a simple swap? Can it be done in my 2wd sbrc 04 truck?
I know a lot of questions and this has been kind of brought up before but its a good subject. Thanks

If you want to find a LQ9 with a 4L80-E look here: www.car-part.com
you may find that some billet servos and a **** kit with the Supercharger may be a better option in the long run. Going from a 5.3 to a 6.0 is not going to net you major HP.

For a mild NA setup the LQ9 might be better, but if you go with a FI setup the LQ4 is better. There's so little difference in performance that I would have trouble justifing the difference in cost the LQ9 will cost you a lot more money. You could spend the difference for mods that would make the LQ4 a lot faster than a stock LQ9.

What do you plan on doing to the 6.0? What type of numbers are you hoping for? I know the 6.0 can be built into a pretty good motor while still being NA, but not sure if the difference in money after mods are added to a 6.0 will stack up to your 5.3 with a supercharger. Good luck with your decision.

I'm not looking for a really fast 1/4 et time just a fast truck that I can drive daily and last a long time(and beat some other truck on the road)
. I don't want to blow my trans or greatly reduce its life i want a good engine and trans combo. Slight mod to the engine to give a little power but nothing crazy.
or would I be better off putting a supercharger or turbo on my 5.3 with the 4L60E 3.73:1 and the G80 locker?
Will the 4L60E hold up just as long as the 5.3L?

For just a little bit of money compared to a complete 6.0 swap or supercharger, have you ever thought of gears and a chip? Low gears help a lot and with a good tune, I would think your truck would be fast and very powerful. A 2wd reg cab should be quick as is, but with just a little help it could be very impressive.
Good luck,
