2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab Short Bed 4WD is this an LQ4?
6.0L V8 OHV 16V 72000 miles

If you had to choose between these motors which would you choose?
Trying to do a lq4 swap.

 

Only the 6.0 is a LQ4.

The 5.7 is just a vortec motor that dates back to 1996.

Lq4 is a 6L engine. Only one seems to be one is the 03. I would look at getting one in the 04+ range as they tend to have better internals.

 

Go for an 05 or 06 to make sure you get the better connecting rods as some had them and some didn't in 2004.

 

Too many choices I can get a ls3 motor for $2000 but I have to help my friend take it out of a camaro ss. Junkyard problems

 

Imo that doesn't sound like a good deal. Not to mention the accessorie bracket is different then the truck one.

Probably better off just finding a good lq4 6.0l and get the heads worked a little and a cam.

 

I am going to go ahead and guess my 2004 has the crappy ones since I have the old style head bolts.

 

Well the motor is going into 1998 nissan 240sx so i will need the ls3 head.

 

idk wht your going to do with that car or how much you want to drop into it but making a high rev motor would probably be fun for such a light car.
