lq4 or lq9 question
#1
i have been looking around for a while and cant realy find any lq9s and if i do ther are 1500. i have found alot of lq4 with 80km for 800. the lq4 are the only ones i can find for a good price. should i get and lq4 its an 05 block and head and go from there putting cam and heads. what do you guys think get the lq4 or wait for a lq9. is the lq9 that much better. thanks in advance

If it's an 05+ block, the only difference is the pistons, the LQ9 being flat tops vs. dished for the LQ4, as I'm sure you know. If budget is a concern (as it is for most of us), I'd get the LQ4 and make up the compression with a smaller combustion chamber in the heads. If you ever decide to go with a serious boost setup and need to lower the compression, you can easily do so by swapping heads in the future

I'd honestly go Lq4How's your 5.3 treating you?

Good point (Bud) on the boost part . But IMOP I would go with the lq4 and slap some 243's or 799's heads on it ! 1 thing that was brought to my attention when I was looking for a 6L. Was the the majority of lq9 come from sss and escalades wich tend to be mistriated couse of the popularity umongs hot rodders like our selfs ! Compared to an lq4 that might of came out of an 2500hd that neve seen past 5k rpm !

5.3 okay i realy want 6.0. the engine the guy is selling is an 05 lq4. and its pulled already. what head castings # should it have and what stamping on block and whare. how would i identifi it thanks.

From an lq4 to an lq9 you can't tell tje diffrence unless you take the heads off and on both of the m the heads should have 317 stamped on them and it should have 6.0L in the front of the block and the back !
