I've reused a stock crank bolt few times, just don't draw pulley on with the bolt

Use semi perm loctite and call it a day

a new bolt is just over $3. if you're not in some kind of pinch, just call up sdpc and get a new bolt, or swing by your local stealership. I've re-used a stock bolt with no issues. but for 3$, why not go new.

hit up dirttrackracer for a pulley install tool it works like a charm...mine paid for itself bigtime. I bought a l76 that the threads were funked up in the crank. a little oil, patients and that tool, I was able to chase the crank threads out perfect.

All right, one way or another, I'll have a bolt.

Thanks.

Don't use the stock bolt to pull on the balancer!!! You will strip out the threads in the crank. Buy or rent installer tool.

That's a cool trick - never heard of that one. How much does the bolt cost?

I agree...I've pulled many crank pulleys on with the stock bolt and luckily never had a problem. after getting an installer, it took all of the worry away when pulling a pulley onto the crank.
