First off, what kind of money are you wanting to put into it?

OK.. I have used the search function, but have not found anything in exactly how to upgrade a existing lq4. Alot of the threads talk about changing the heads, intake, a bump in compression to run bigger cam.

I really do not want a big dollar motor. What I'm interested in is the following. I currently spray a 125 shot on top of a stock lq4. Good power off the bottle and on. What I would like to do is upgrade the current 325 horse to 340 horse motor to about 400 horse.

The motor has about 70,000 miles on it.

I would like to use as much of the lq4 parts as possible to keep cost down.

I'm not opposed to getting a lq9 and refreshing it either.

What if I had 8-10k to use on a lq4 build with a blower. What would you do to the motor?

for the op. Headers, a mild 22x/22x cam, a set of 243 heads, and a very healthy tune should get you close. Keep an eye in the for sale section.

You would be better off than me. Call some performance shops and get some prices of a 370 or 408.

The shop the services my Denali for me is going to do my build. They build some crazy engines everyday for a lot of race teams. 1800hp N/A motors are a common site at the shop. They told me they could build me a mild 408 for around 8k that would make around 550-600whp with my blower. I just want to compare what others have paid for similar builds. I am going to replace the heads, crankshaft, pistons, rods, valves, etc.

Should be around the 5-6K range for a longblock. 408's typically run about 3-4 depending what all parts you use. Mild 408 for 8k seems a little high to me. I'm starting a 408 build myself. I know is something that everyone does but I like knowing what I'm getting into. I will be doing all of the work myself. Well, all except for the boring and balancing. Just trying to figure out now which brands to go with.
