I have Thorley Tri-Ys, Magnaflow (Carsound) Cats and a FloPro HD muffler. Legal, good flow, and quiet.

How does the SS exhaust sound? deep and mellow without rasp and drone?

Sounds too quiet. Most SS trucks have dealer installed aftermarket systems.
Some do not. The dealer installed exhaust will be somewhat quiet unless customer had other preference other than dealer.

Any long tube header will work. If your in a emission crissis area, I would go with Dynatech's long tube headers with high flow cat system. Bolt on system that requires no modifications. Even an aftermaket cat-back system designed for your particular truck will bolt right up to it. You can even bolt it right up to the factory cat-back system.
Only disadvantage is price. It will run you about $1,100.00 for the system.
Not really too bad if you think about the quality of the product and the cats that come with it.
Not sure what someone will charge to install them if your not up to the task.
From whatever longtube header system you go with, then you can pick your cat-back system. Whatever you do, go with long tube headers as shorties are a waste of money.
A Corsa touring cat-back system will be quiet with the header combo.
If your on a stricked budget....you may want to go another route than what I stated above.
Good Luck!

Jim
