How low do you have to be on oil to get the low oil light to come on?

 

Anyone?

 

i dont know, but ive seen my oil EXTREEMLY low and no light ever came on...

 

word, seen my oil pretty low and it never come on... IMO, if that light comes on its too late and you're fucked. **** must come on when oil cant be picked up anymore lol

 

2.5 qts low... dont ask me how I know that one...

 

when my sts oil pump quit and was throwing all my oil outta the turbo it went down to 4 qts low and never seen the light come on....quess if you see it it's too late...thats why they call them idiot lights....and then again it prolly went down so quick that it didnt have a chance to come on.....

yep i agree.

 

yep i agree as well, when i had valve stem seals out it would be 2.5 qts. low. when the light would come on. and it never blew up **** lol.

 

well my change engine oil light came on today and i just changed it a few weeks ago. i checked it and every thing was fine so I wouldn't go by what the lights tell ya.
