Default Lost oil pressure on 6.0, have some questions

Truck: 2003 2500 4x4 6.0L

I just got done intstalling a turbo on a buddys truck and we fired it up and it had plenty of oil pressure, around 40lbs. We did this a couple times to ensure we were getting oil to the turbo, etc. When we had everything bolted up, I fired it up one last time to pull it out of the garage and NO OIL PRESSURE. I have verified that indeed there is no oil pressure, it's not a gauge malfunction. All I can think is that when we drilled the pan for the oil return, we sucked up some aluminum chips...

I don't think any damage has been done as it only ran for 10-15 secs with a couple 5 sec starts afterwards to check for pressure. It looks like you can change these pumps without pulling the motor, and it even seems that you can pull the pan without pulling the motor. So I guess my question, any recommendations other than putting a new oil pump on? If it did in fact suck up an aluminum chip and lock the pump up, something must have sheared or gave away right? I would like to manually try and turn the pump to see if it's locked up, is this possible?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No need to pull the motor, just pull off the water pump, harmonic balancer, and then pull off the front cover, drop down the oil pan a bit and you can remove and replace the pump. Probably a stuck bypass valve?

Even running the engine that short of a time with no oil pressure will damage the bearings....I know because I did it myself. Highly doubtful a new op will solve the problem.

The bypass valve is located inside the oil pump, its only like $100 for a new oil pump try replacing it and see if it cures your problem. Also could be the pickup tube O ring, I've heard of guys having issues with those.
