Default Looking at a 5.3 Truck

I know nothing about the new trucks other than 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and 8.1 are the gas motors. I know their based off the LS1 and thats all good and well but I have a couple questions

What kind of gas mileage can I expect to get from Freeway driving on a 5.3 2WD ext cab and the Z-71?

Reliable, are they? How many miles is to much on these things, I found a 00 Z-71, Ext cab wit 73K miles for 15K, but for the most part I see a lot of the 2WD trucks with under 36K miles.

Is it hard going from driving an F-body to a truck? I drove an F-150 Lariat once but that was about it. I liked it though.

My gas mileage on the highway on the 5.3 was from 15-17mpg depending on how hard I'd drive it. This is an ext. cab 4x4. It has been very reliable, not a single problem that wasn't caused by my driving habits. What did you want to use the truck for? 15k seems a little steep for 73k miles, you should shop around a little more.

The mod bug will hit you with these to. FYI, the 8.1 is NOT LS1 based. Silent pretty much covered you question. With my mods on the truck, I still get 21mpg @ 80mph on the highway with 500lbs of cargo in the bed.

Daily Driving and recreation, I want a truck that I can drive every day but also pull some Jet Skis. The Silverados are so much more comfotable then a small truck.
