Default Long tubes and no tune question

I ordered long tubes and ory pipe and efi live auto cal. for my brother in laws truck who is over seas in the Air Force right now. The plan is to get it installed ready to go by the time he gets home mid December. Well everything is here and my sister is going to drive the truck here for thanksgiving. I can't get it data logged and a tune emailed back before she leaves( she will be here Wednesday through Sunday.) so I was thinking I could install the headers and data log it and let her drive it back home.(8hour drive) and I mail her the tune once I get it emailed to me and it will all be done for him in time for when he gets home. Will running the long tubes without a tune hurt anything? I know check engine light will be on.

I hope not, I've been running my long tubes for a month without being tuned for them lol
I'm waiting until after my cam swap to re tune. Which will be a few more weeks

You will more than likely lose power. Slow2008 drove his with long tubes before getting it tuned. He has a dyno thread. It really made a difference once he got it tuned though.

I figured it would lose some power. But like I said its getting tuned. Just didnt think that could be done overe thanksgiving week. Just want to make sure it doesn't make it run too lean or anything like that. I guess it would be better to data log it with the headers on?

It shouldn't hurt anything, I just wouldn't DD it like a drag car until its tuned. I drove mine with the LT's and ORY for 2-3 months until I got it tuned. You just want the tune to get the full potential from the headers.

Its not going to hurt a thing running it without tuning. Go WOT do whatever you please, your PCM is going to do what its suppose to which is adapt and pull timing if and where its needed.

Your just going to be missing out in the power department till you get the tuning sorted out. You will want to datalog after the headers are installed.

Ok cool. Thanks for all the info. Just wanted it all done and working perfectly for him when he gets back so he can just crank it up and enjoy

I would not do any WOT runs until it's tuned or at least until you know the air/fuel ratio. You sure don't want it to run lean at WOT. Driving it normally for a while will not hurt it though.

I'm with dummy!^^^
I did plenty of WOT runs with my cc with lts and no tune! It ran great! Maybe a lil rich! But a lil rich never hurt anyone! Tear it up man!
