It's out, apparently I should have pulled the x member under the oil pan for more clearance.

Going to clean up the engine bay tomorrow, then attempt to get the engine and transmission set in.

Having two issues, hope someone can help...

First, won't start. Everything is plugged in, battery is charged, has power at the ECM, alternator, starter, etc. It does nothing when I turn the key to the start position. The fuel pump runs and everything else electrical in the truck works.

Second, my shift cable will not seat in the bracket. It's over an inch away from locking into the bracket on the rear of the transmission. The bracket is the one that came with the 80E from the donor vehicle.

You may have put the small wire on the wrong post on your starter.

Post pics of your shifter cable & bracket situation.

I never removed the small wire from the starter. I unbolted the starter and wired it up out of the way. I'll get a picture of the cable.

May be something with the PRNDL switch then. Adjustment or damaged wire near connector.

Hrmmm.... I had a hell of a time getting both connectors out of that switch on my 4L60E. Wonder if I hurt something?

I've seen that quite a few times actually, including once on my own truck. Those connectors are glued from the factory, a heat gun makes them come apart easily.

Check for broken wires inside the insulation, it happens often. There should be enough wire there to repin it if needed. The dealer usually keeps those pins in stock.

Thank you, I believe that is the problem now. It took a lot of force to remove them.

I hope I can sort it out in the next few days, I need my truck.

It runs! I got under it and fiddled with the connections. It fired right up.

Here are the pictures of the bracket and cable. I'm thinking I may have to mod the shift arm or bracket.

It looks close. Have you tried to adjust the length of the cable?
