The search gave me a very long list of cam questions but didn't find what I was looking for.
What cam lift is max for the factory push rods, valve springs and retainers? Which is crucial for replacement on cam swap in a sock 5.3 and if say the cam was around a 214/220 585 111.5 LSA? Thanks

If you change your cam you'll need to replace the springs. I think the Z06 cam is even too big for the stock 5.3 springs.

Lol, I bet it wont last long. I wouldnt spin the stock springs and pushrods past 5500. They are way too weak. Spend the extra 200-300 and get the cam and pushrods. Its better than having to replace the engine when you drop a valve

So with a small cam, stock push rods and good single spring with stock retainers I will keep it at 5500 rpm redline. I only want a good choppy idle, it doesn't need to be fast or as big as I can go. If someone needs out run, I'll use the Denali LOL

With that setup you'll have no problems spinning up past 6000, unles you get a really small cam, but then why go to the effort.

The effort is only 2-3 hours of my time and its easy, it needs tuned anyways and I'm doing it all for the big nasty idle sound is what I'm really going for. These trucks run good as they are

I don't really get doing a cam swap just for sound but the performance you gain makes it worth it if you get it tuned. You think it runs good now.
