Well if you want this new 6.0 to last you better build the bottom end. Shifting at 6900 alone is enough to loose a rod. I would not take a stock bottom end over 6k if you want this to last. Just build up the bottom end, and save yourself some time and money instead of doing it when it breaks.

everything i hear about the rods sugest that i am ok still, i shift at 5800rpm and it sounds like that should keep them around for awhile. i am going to try not to buy any other small parts for awhile, try and put a few bucks away for some bottom end parts.

there is a nice crank/rods/pistons set up for sale in the part section. 408 set up, about 10-1(kinda high) for $3450

 

Hey Big if I remember correctly the rod was in 3 pieces...Attached to the crank, the piston was still in the cylinder with a piece of rod attached and the middle piece of rod was out the side of the block somewhere on beltway 8....lolSo it was not a bolt failure....These rods in these motors are ****** crap.....
