Default Let's talk weight reduction/relocatoin...

I've been thinking heavily on what can be done to reduce weight around my truck and it seems like there can be a handful of good things to do.

-Relocating battery to bed/under bed. Perhaps by the spare tire?
-Removing unused brackets/metal. In particular, the peice under the intake, battery tray after relocation.
-Possibly replacing some of the body bracing with an aluminum replica? In particular those heavy j peices that are up the hood hinges and other peices.

Anybody thought about fiberglass hood and fenders? I imagine there are a lot of cheap easy things you can do to get the weight down. Discuss.

All I have ever heard of doing is taking off the tail gate, rear bumper, and spare tire...

Relocating the battery and all that really wont make a huge difference unless your running like 11's or something, lol.

Idk if there is anyone out there that makes tubular suspension for our trucks... but that would be the most dramatic of weight reduction... that and removing the bed lol.

Moving the battery to the back would help. Especially since it takes weight of the front and puts it over the rear tires. Removing the front sway bar will help. Skid plates.

I have a fiberglass hood and it pulled a good 50+ pounds off of the front. You can pull off the tow hooks, factory scrape plates, windshield washer tank. The step side beds are 100 lbs lighter. You can remove the dash braces and cut them down to a little as needed.

If it doesn't have to be in there you can pull it. Crazy things like radio and AC.... . . Just depends on how far you want to go.

do they make fiberglass molded beds, Id bet that would pull a ton of weight off, especially for those of us that dont use the bed a whole lot. The only draw back I could imagine is losing weight over the rear wheels.
