Default Let's talk intake manifolds

Has anyone compared a factory to a Holley Hi-Ram, Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT, and FAST LSXRT 102? I have found individual results but none with a similar test foundation with only intakes being changed.

My truck has the factory 78mm truck intake and I'm thinking about switching to an aftermarket manifold, I don't want to lose much if any low end torque but definitely want top end horsepower gains. I know with any of the three aftermarket intakes I will also have to buy a matching throttle body, and I'm assuming fuel rails and injectors as well, can anyone confirm this?

The fast intake is the only one that wouldn't kill the low end torq. The nnbs intake with the 87m tb would be nice too.

If I keep my current 3800 stall and use nitrous off the line like I intend to, maybe the loss of low RPM torque won't affect me much.

I can't find flow numbers on any of these intakes, all I see is "25hp gain", etc. someone has had to have tested the flow on these manifolds.

Most guys dont spend $2000 on intakes just to test for a 5hp difference....you will be fine with any of them, they are all good. Take your pick of the one you think looks the best.

I'm really impressed with the ported LSXRT. It made a massive difference vs the Gen 3 intake/TB. Its a completely different motor above 4k, and it didn't loose anything down low.

With the Patrick G tune, it didn't lose any driveability either. Its no different than the 78mm OEM unit in that respect.

I have no experience with the other intakes you listed, so I can't offer a comparison.

I'm leaning towards the LSXRT, as of right now. I'll need a throttle body, fuel rails and some hardware but maintain my fuel injectors that I'm currently running, correct?

See post 14. I was able to use the stock fuel rail, however it was a PITA, and its an eyesore.

I'm running 36lb FAST injectors, however that depends on the rest of your setup.

To get the best results with the LSXRT, I recommend the ported Tony Mamo version, and tuning by Patrick Guerra.

My Fast LSXrt killed low end but made 40more RWHP than my stock intake at 6400rpm.

Guess im the only one that isnt wild about the lsxrt. The quality isnt there for the money, and a lot of the time im reading about fitment or tuning issues. If you intend to run nitrous, the vic jr with a nice plate is hard to beat. The 4150 throttle body is a must and a single plane speced cam is a must.
