Default Let the 6L begin

I found an LQ9 6 L block for 300 around in mississippi. The guy said he had the block tested and its ok, and you can still see the factory cross hatches and all it needs is honing. Its about time to retire the 4.8 with 111,000 miles on it. So ill be needing some pointers in the future! Im prolly gonna stroke this one! I appreciate all of yalls advice. Ill be needing a lot more later on! Thanks,
Derek

Congrats and good luck! First piece of advice, save your pennies and get er done! I got my hands on a good clean LQ9 shortblock, but all I can afford to do with it is let it sit in my dining room while I slowly acquire parts for it

Well derek it looks like you might beat me to being the first 6.0L manual 1500 series truck. But my plan is a 6.0/T56 swap, which you should look into also, that 5-speed tranny can't handle that kind of power too long

mjhowards 5speed is taking 450hp and almost 500tq with slicks and the stock clutch IMO it is plenty strong enough. I used to think the same thing but his trans is holding up just fine and he has a **** load of off idle torque due to the radix.

I think he's got the newer transmission too, me and virgil have the nv3500 while mj has the getrag i believe. I think it's supposed to be a little stouter, might be wrong though.
