Default it lasted 10 seconds.....

i just recently installed some new fans by perma cool. after i installed them i cranked my truck to see when they would kick on they came on once and then shut off and never came back on. my truck was about to overheat and they still wouldn't come on. would this be the switch. i've had these fans sitting at my house for awhile and just got around to doing it. i am planning to call perma cool and chew them up and down if i cannot figure this out. what coould i try to do? any help would be appreciated. thanks

What do you have controlling the fans? Are they PCM activated, what harness? May be a bad relay, loose connection, blown fuse, etc.

i got it working but not the way i want it. if i run the a/c wire to the a/c it works as long as the a/c is on. but my thermostat will not make it engage. i disconnect the a/c or shut it off to see if i can get it to turn on w/ the thermostat, but it will not come on. i don't know where to begin.

Do you have one of those thermostats that goes into the radiator fins or is it in a coolant jacket somewhere? What harness are you using, have you tried swapping relays around?

Might have the temp prob inserted too far into the rad.?
You should have about a half inch or so left out otherwise they don't read properly and the fans won't kick on.
Had this happen to me once, worth a shot.

Make sure the temp probe is touching the coolant tubes, not just between them. Then get it wired up properly to the PCM ASAP before you overheat and blow the enginre.

I agree, those temp probes aren't the best, most accurate way to control the fans. Get the PCM tuned and do it that way.

alright where do i begin? thanks for all the info so quickly. i cannot run the fans through my PCM so that is out of the question. i could possibly run the wire that goes to the a/c to the ignition or something but i'd rather run it through the thermostat. i am going to try to pull the probe out a little bit because it is shoved all the way into the radiator. i placed the probe almost in the center of the radiator about 5'' from the top. does that seem right?

I'm not too sure as to where they recommend putting the probe, but I have seen setups that use sensors that go into a water jacket, like in the cylinder head. There are adjustable ones available actually. I used to have one as an aux fan on my 85 MonteSS, and it worked well. I believe that PermaCool made the one I had. I'm sure that if you checked Summit you'd find the type of setup that I'm referring to. Hopefully somebody that's used the radiator style temp probe will post up with the info referring to it's best location.
