Default L33,therock, and the boys

My neighbor called me yesterday with the idea of dumping his 02 cummings HO bolt action. He is tired of the normal diesel ****.He was thinking xcab 4x4 02-04 GM.I said with all the dealer incentives go 2005 LS 5.3 HO and 3.42s (he's a hwy guy and doesnt tow)Ive seen trucks like this advertised for $24K and having a sticker in the $33k range.Anyone have any regrets with the 310HP vs the LM7?

One of the first things he asked was what i thought of the 4.8,I said stay the hell away from it.

I don't have any first hand experience with the HO 5.3, but we know its got good parts inside. I bet it responds well to headers and tuning.

I think it would have to run like a scalleded cat.I see on westers they are showing a tune for the 05 truck.I hope westers still does free exchange tunes for when you buy a newer vehical.Time to dial this 04 yukon. Then i will be done with it.

I have that motor in my Sierra Z71, and I do have the 3.42's. I had an 01 Silverado extended cab Z71 with 4.10's. So far I'm happy with it. I'm waiting for better weather to install my Magnaflow catback and Volant, and I'm waiting for Johan to get the update for the 5.3 HO into my predator. Hopefully, in two weeks I'll have an informed opinion on these light mods.
So far though, when nailing the throttle at about 30-35 mph, it hauls. It seems to pull like a ****. Moreso than the Silverado I had. Oh yeah, and no knock at 600 miles. My last half ton knocked from the get go.

Default Hey Gonzo.

You know I like mine. The K&N, Airaid MIT and the Corsa have perked it up a bit. Like BigTex said before, the right parts are there. In talking to Nelson Performance, he says the TM is ridiculous in the 05's. I believe GM is tuning for MPG. He is researching for the best L33 tune right now and as soon as he gets it nailed down I'll have it.
I have an old predator from my 03 that I use now to monitor the diagnostics. I thought of giving it to my brother and called predator about resetting it to work on an 04.
During this conversation he asked me what I was driving, because there is a $100.00 core credit if I purchased a new one. When I told him the 05 with the L33 he said "L33, What is that?". After explaining I asked why there is not a different part number on his site for an L33 Vs. the LM7. Certainly the generic tune shipped with any 05 5.3 unit would not work well for both.
He put me on hold and came back wit a, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention.".
I told Nelson I want a hot 93 octane tune. We shall see.
Some have complained of the L33 having no ***** down low. It's the tuning for sure. I have fooled it a couple of times and felt the power by accident. I was at a slow roll in 1st when I goosed it, (behind a Home Depot/Super Wal-Mart plaza. The traffic rules back there are none and you gotta move or be moved) so, I goosed 1st and had to let off , it shifted into 2nd I guess because when I hit it again I was in 2nd and she screamed across the lot. I tried to repeat it but no go. This happened to me a time or two on my 03. It is always from a slow roll. I guess the drive by wire TB didn't know what to do but open wide.

They didn't know it as the L33, but they did know that it is the 5.3 with the B as the 8th digit in the VIN. Go figure.

Default I Told Them About It.

That too came up in our conversation. I told them about it. It has been at lease a month since. Yes the B indicates the L33.
