Default K&N Intake Tubes Suck!

Man, I am so frustrated with this damn K&N tube, it keeps falling off the tb and creating an air leak. I fixed it 4 times already and it was just getting to be a pain in the butt. So to patch it up in the mean time, I used some of that stock rubber flex tube off of the stock intake and put it around the intake tube and tb. It looks like **** and probably creates turbulance but it the only thing that will work right now. Does anybody know of just and intake tube that will work with a already exisiting filter element and maf?

I believe you stock plumbing should work. I'm pretty sure I had the stock stuff install when I was running the TB spacer and BBK so I could get everything to fit without rubbing the clutch fans before I went electric. My K&N isn't the best fit and I attribute that to the larger length of my BBK. The rubber transitions are secure, but not exactly 100% bang on. Maybe I'll pick up some 4" pvc and transitions somethime at Home Depot and see how that works.

I know K&N didn't provide much for the rubber transitions and it's a tight fit to begin with, but if you try, I'm sure you can get everything to mate up properly. Good Luck!

I've never had any problems with mine. Might want to re-check the position of the filter/air box thingy to make sure that it's lined up.

You can run the stock couplings with the K&N--I did on mine until I got e-fans 'cuz of the TB spacer--but it looks like it will cause restriction because you have to really bend part of the rubber "accordian" part closest to the airbox at a sharp angle.

Check the positioning of the filter/airbox piece of the K&N, I think that might be your problem.

I had the same problem on my '97 350. I had to check it about once a week and would usually find it loose. It was a PITA.

How much did the true flow run? Are there any other places that have reasonable proces for the stock tube?

i got mine for around $230, it came with a 90* elbow for the throttle body and a straight piece to connect to the factory air box., and the tube. also came with a new airfilter.
i like it very much. absolutely nothing here can break. there is no plastic used in the material. so you dont have to worry about the tube cracking or not fitting right.
