Default K&N intake kit

When you first install a K&N FIPK cold air intake, one of my friends said you aren't supposed to floor it the first 2-3 days, is this true?

never heard of it either. but it could have something to do with the amount of air being brought in compared to stock. maf might have to adjust.

but, there is no warnings that i've seen from the manufacturers so i wouldn't worry about it

That would have to do with the filter being very oily from the factory and you dont want to get that stuff on your MAF

Its good advice

You have a point, but what does not flooring it have to do with the oil? It will still get on your MAF no matter how hard you press the throttle wont it, only at a lesser rate if you keep the RPM's down? Where else would it go?

I could see not flooring it, if your doing something like a cam install,(moving parts) BUT not an FIPK...

if you're worried about the oil wipe it down inside and out with a lint free rag to get rid of excess oil. i always do that when i clean my filters. but no i've never heard of not flooring it either. your pcm wil adjust to more airflow and more or less o2 in the air as well as temp pretty much immediatly. if it did'nt you'd have to drive up the mountain very very slow. e
