Default Just ordered a Magnaflow cat back..

It should be here mid next week. It's for my '04 Silverado extended cab/short bed with the 5.3L motor and 3.73 gears.

It's the side exit stainless exhaust. Does anyone else have this Magnaflow cat-back and how do they like the sound under acceleration and volume cruising at 70-80 mph? Any noticeable power increase? Sport truck dynoed this system before and after and picked up around 11rwhp and 18lb/ft of torque. Does this sound about right?

lol these sound like questions to ask BEFORE you buy it.

jk dude. what size was the muffler you ordered? there are 2 options i think

i have a 5x8x18 magnaflow on my truck right now, it sounds awesome all the time except between 1800-2000 rpm. it drone real bad during those. 75mph its silent tho

Hehe, yeah, it's a 22" muffler, so I don't think it will be too bad. It's item number 15778 on the Magnaflow website. The dual cat-back exhaust uses 2.5inch tubing and the 18 inch muffler. The one I ordered is a single side exit with 3 inch tubing and the 22" muffler, so I now wonder what the sound difference is between the small tubing, but dual exit and smaller muffler is compared to the larger tubing, but single and larger muffler.

Yeah, I should have asked these questions before, but I really haven't heard any really negative comments on the Magnaflow. I hope the "factory designed" catback doesn't drone between 1800-2000rpm because I spend a few bit of time in that rpm range cruising down the highway.

Dan, where did you order yours? Are these 'new' catbacks on back order? Is there a smaller supply of the regular cab versus extended cab exhaust???

people with the 22 inch muffler report zero drone, hence the reason i am very much considering swapping my 18 to the 22. also people with dual exit 18 inch catback say theirs doesnt drone....thats the really consfusing part. lol i think you will be pleased. it wont be super loud, but it wont be annoying either

I have a 22" and man that's one quiet *****. I'd like to have more sound but power and speed before noise for me. It only droned as it was dumped for a while...as soon as the tailpipes when on it's damn near silent all the time.

Like I posted in the flowmaster thread the Magnaflow really drones on the highway past 70mph.. I`m not liking it at all.

How much was the cat back?
I think it`s a waste of $$$. I have a really good muffler guy and he threw on the magnaflow muffler custom made the over the axle pipe and welded up a really beatiful long tip.
cost $125. Only took an hour...
I saw the pic of the "catback" and I don`t see anything different that what he made today...

Im` thinking I`m gonna go with something different thou.. I can see this drivin me nuts on longer trips...

is your's stainless steel and have mandrel bends? i doubt it.

how bout the tip? is yours stainless. hope so or it will look like crap in a few months.

i hardly call the catback a waste of money for a product that is proven to give rwhp gains and will last a very long time

I have the model #15618 cat back and I like it. It isn't real loud at idle or cruising speeds, but it has a nice roar when you get on it. I didn't really notice a big difference in power tho. I think maybe a tenth or two only. But I'm sure as the mods pile up it comes into play more. Beside the exhaust, I only had a intake and HPPIII and my EC 2wd ran in the 14's, so every little bit helps. I can't wait to get some warm weather so I can see what this converter gave me!
