I bought it used from a guy. The filter looks like it was just cleaned but not re oiled. I don’t have any of the oil dressing that is for the Volant intake filters but I do have some old K&N filter oil would it be ok to use the K&N Oil Dressing instead of the blue stuff from Volant?

I don't see why not. Just don't over-do it. I've used K&N oil on other brand filters before on my wife's Maxima and haven't had any problems.

The K&N oil will be just fine

I didn't wanna reoil it before shipping it due to possible leakage and the fact that too much oil can cause issue with your engine by coating the MAF and I didn't want to be responsible if that happened

Like stated above, go easy on the oil.

When it comes time to clean the filter you can just use Simple Green or maybe 409.

wow, i didn't know you could use simple green to clean the filter. i have a AFE filter and it is about time to clean it. guess i'll get some K&N oil and go to work on it.

Yep, K&N stuff works fine. I have used it on my Volant numerous times with no issues. Only bummer is that you now have a "red" filter instead of a "blue" one. ;-)
