Default Just got a 2007 Z71...new to game!

Hey people. Great site. Just found it yesterday.

I just got a 2007 Z71 as mentioned in my sig below. I see you all are really into this and I'm afraid I may catch this bug.

This truck is my daily driver, so I'd like to not go too heavy on it. I figured this is a great place to get the information I need to wake this beast up. I've done some searches but want to make sure we are talking about the 5.3 with the fuel management system here.

Exhaust: Anybody have the factory cat back dual exhaust on thier 2007 that has the 5.3 with the fuel management system? I can get one for $650. Or should I just go after market. I'm looking for a deep throaty sound. What do you guys think?

Programming: Who does a good job on this 5.3 with the fuel management system? What kind of gains should I expect?

Cam: I see some of you run a cam. Worth it? Any suggestions for a daily driver with a 5.3 with the fuel management system?

Stall Converter: I am thinking I might like one of these also. Not too radical. Need to ease the boat out of the water from time to time and the wife drives the truck too. What to you guys think?

Front End Leveling Kit: I'm assuming this will make the truck sit higher. Does it effect the ride/handling a lot? Any good before and after pics anybody?

Am I missing anything?

Welcome aboard, nice truck!!!

I'm not sure which exhaust sounds/performs best on the newer trucks, but I might be able to throw some cam/converter ideas at you...alot of cam/converter choices has to do with what you consider daily driveable. My baby cam and some tuning is a nice daily driver that doesn't need a higher stall converter, but it's pretty small in comparison to what most guys are running. IMO, if you plan on towing and want a nice power increase, I'd stick with a converter that stalls around 2600 and has strong internals...I'm sure that some guys will chime in about their personal experiences with Yank and Vigilante converters. As for the cam, I'd think that something in the 212/218, 550ish lift, on a 114 would work with that nicely. Comp offers a grind with those numbers, and you can also check out some of the Vinci truck grinds. Some custom PCM tuning is a must...check out some of our sponsors (PCMforLess, Nelson) and see what they have to offer.

Congrats on the nice ride!!

on the tuning I would go with one of the best tuners around>>> WHEATLEY>>>sponsor>>>>> he does mail orders as well.....

on the cam I would go with one like they suggested, 212/218 with a 2600yank converter, and that will be a very nice cam for DD, I have that cam in my Z71 and the gains are very impressive..

not on the 07. he has to do it in person for the 07. he doesn't have all the stuff to tune the computer out of the truck. unless he's got the stuff now. I am pleased with my wheatly tune, but found a local shop that can tune for me.
