6.0s are usually cheaper and easier to find
But either one will do great

what would be the benefit of the all aluminum block and 243 headed ls1 to the all cast iron 6.0s. i know theres no replacement for displacement but doesnt the ls1 have a pretty good cam and heads to begin with verses the 6.0 which would need that. am i better off getting a 6.0 for 1 k putting 1k in cam and valve train upgrades or spending 2k on an ls1?

the standard LS1 doesnt come with 243 heads an LS6 does thats even more$$
An iron headed 6.0 is a 99-00 model and has a longer crank shaft that will not work with a 4L60E based tranny

Find you an 05+ 6.0, LQ4 or LQ9, swap it out, tune it, and be done with it. You won't be disappointed.

I do things different i would choose the LS1

I also feel the ls1 will make a few more HP
WHY? LS1 with tr224 cam and full bolt-ons many have made 400hp with them
6.0 same setup 380hp takes a good set of cylinder heads to break 400
I think the LS1 gun drilled light weight crankshaft causes the difference.
Yes the 6.0 will make more torque because of cubic inches

They both good motors i dont feel one is that much better than the other. What ever one is more availbe and in price range is what i would choose!

seems that any 05+ lq4 or lq9 is about the same price as a ls1. this is gonna be a hard choice. im unsure about the electronic throttle on the 05 up. do you guys use it or convert somehow?

just use your intake and throttlebody on the new motor solves that issue
