Talking It's Alive! Installed engine on Thur

It's running! We installed the motor on Thur and fired it up ( see signature for info ). Unplugged the coils to static prime the oil pump and passages, connected coils and it fired immediately. No codes, idles smooth. Broke in the cam and took it around the block. Big time torque and throttle response! Of course it won't see above 4k RPM for a couple hundred miles or so but the initial impression is awesome. Lights the big 32" BFG's at will, even up here at 5000ft. Definitely better than the poor old 4.8L and will probaby smoke my Dodge now. Where is STS?!?
Ran it for 60 miles today, oil pressure is in the 60+ range when hot and driving, 35 at idle. Still no codes or funny noises. I think it is gonna live ( now the tranny is on watch ).
In the end, I'm not sure I saved over a built short block but at least I can say "I Did It!" unless the motor dies
Thanks to all for the advice and encouragement. I'll update more when dyno time, tuning, and bigger injectors come online. Peace.

Congrats on the install, and glad to hear that a motor CAN actually be assembled and swapped out without running into problems. It gives me hope as I intend on doing mine 2 weeks from this weekend when I get back from vacation. Keep us updated on your progress!

Its an iron block LS1 stroker. I'd think it would be a 382 CI motor.

Congrats on the install. Go get some miles on that thing. I'm eager to hear how its running.

The displacement with the 3.905" bore is 383 CI or around 6.2L.
Yep, the closest designation would be iron block stroked LS1. Again, maybe not a cheaper way to go but it opens up many, many more possibilities for engine builds since the 6.0L blocks are getting harder to come by. They are not a well kept secret anymore.
Got another 100 miles on it around town staying below 4000 RPM to be safe. Still running great, no complaints. Can't wait to get to around 500 miles to start playing!
