Default Intake ?'s

it seems as if you'd be able to use an ls6 intake manifold after installing electric fans, is this possible? if so, would an ls6 thottle body work/be needed? is it worth the money? what other options do we have for more air/induction short of superchargers? what are the opinions on bigger throttle bodies and MAF's?

i am building a 5.3 from bare block it is going to be blown and bad ***. talked to people and i was told that our truck intakes (manifold) flowes as good or better than a ls1/ls6 because i was thinking of putting one on the motor i am building. i was also told the only reason the do not put the truck intakes on the cars is there is not enough room under the hood. don't know the truth behind this.

sleeper is basically correct. the truck intake flows better than the LS1 intake and as well as the LS6 intake. and our intakes are designed for more low end power (which we need to get our heavy trucks moving).

as for the truck intake on an f-body, i believe its because their engine is so far back in the engine bay. which like sleeper said, creates a clearance problem.

If your building a bareblock 5.3, i sugest you do some serius head work, and get the all aluminum Wieand LS6 intake, that way you could port the intake to whatever size need be.( Thats if you really need to port the **** out of your intake.)

After having installed several of the Holley intakes, I would not recommend them unless you spend the money to have them ported by a reputable shop. Fitment is less than desirable and out-of-the-box performance in poor (have actually lost power in two n/a bolt-on cars) A properly ported manifold does have its advantages in a blower application such as yours. I was really disappointed in the performance we saw from these manifolds based upon the claims the manufacturer makes.
