intake and convertor questions
#1
Alright fella's, I am thinking about doing a few upgrades to the 5.3 I have in my rock crawler S10....when it happens it wont be in that truck any more, it will be going into a full tube chassis buggy that will weigh around 1500-1800lbs lighter.
Specs so far---02 5.3L, LS6 cam/springs,.030 milled heads, EFI live tuning, factory manifolds and "custom" exhaust (no bigger than 3"), 4L60E with the factory S10 torque converter.
I know I want to have it tuned a little better and hopefully on a dyno, so I have been thinking about a few easy upgrades that wont kill the wallet and will keep the engine very reliable. I have been reading about the the TBSS intake swap alot of guys are doing on 5.3s and are having good luck with...since I am planning a fuel system upgrades (flow through fuel rails, with regulator and maybe bigger injectors) I think the TBSS intake would work well with what I already have. Do you guys agree? I am also considering changing the convertor at the same time...while I am happy with how it performs, I would like it to come alive a little faster. I really dont want a big stall convertor...maybe 22-2300? I mainly drive technical rock trails with some mild hill shooting involving high RPMs or just cruising some trails...its not a race buggy.
Thanks
Brian

thanks, thats what I am hoping for. The only thing I not sure of is the injectors for it. Will the stock 5.3s flow enough or will they run out of fuel and will those injectors work on a set of LS1 style fuel rails??
