Search this website and you will find a lot of posts about intakes. The most popular intakes for Silverados are the K&N FIPK, AEM Brute Force, and Volant. All of these systems seem to be good. Can't really tell you which one is "the best" because everyone has their own opinion. I have the True Flow intake (www.trueflow.com) because I like the fact that it still uses the stock airbox.

With the exception of a drop in K&N panel filter, im going to say that there is very little if any difference between any of the popular intakes. UPD, K&N. Airaid, AEM, Volant......some are cone and open, some are closed and sealed. Some claim cold air, some claim volume. I have run a few in my day and notice very little to no difference amongst intakes made by the big players.

So I say in todays times, look at cosmetics and future plans (N20, blower, etc) and pick one that will work for you.

Some plastic, some metal....on and on.....its all about smoothing out airflow and removing restrictive bends in the stock tubing and increasing volume. I think all of them do that. all of them are using cotton re-useable filters, just a different color oil. The tube goes from a to b and the biggest improvement in flow comes with removal of that isolator / air reserve box and smoothing out the route from box to TB. All of them increase noise somewhat.

It goes back and forth, forth and back about intakes on all the truck boards and I'll tell you what you will hear - Everyone sounding off that what they run is the way to go.

So I say look at construction of the piece, pick one that you like in terms of looks and roll with it. Every damn manufacturer claim out there (30+ HP at the wheels!" IMO, is a big stretch and just a marketing ploy.

You have a black ball player hitting .300 a white ball player hitting .300 and an asian ballplayer hitting .300......who is best? Well, depends on what team they play for and if the person you ask is a fan of that team....

My .02 on the circular discussion on intakes that never ends.

Seems like you really can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned CAI's, and alot of the guys at SiveradoSS.com seem to really like the Outlaw CAI also. I had a K&N FIPK and now I have a Volant, and they both seem to perform about the same. I like them both

A member here recently got an AEM with an oil-less filter that seems really nice also...I like the idea of not having to oil the filter

Ditto but mostly because I dont want to clean the damn MAF every now and again.

I am measuring my Volant cone diameter and length and then perusing through stock replacement cones (fram and such) and installing one. Im going to dyno the rig here in a month or so just for kicks so maybe i'll swap out the stocker for the paper cone between runs just for the hell of it.

i ordered my parts online to make mine last night. I think the whole thing will cost like $100 bucks which is cheap. I am gonna use aluminum tubing and gonna polish it to make it shine and look freakishly good. I also go a HUGE K&N filter from summit thats gonna be nice to look at. Im thinking of a Stainless Steel compartment for it to sit in and keep the heat away from it.
