Default Installing Walbro pump /with wiring questions

I have the bed off and the sending unit and pump out already. I know which wire goes were to hook up the new pump. But should I solder the wires together and then use shrink tubing on top of the wire splice? I remember reading on here(and yes I did a search) but couldn't find were that one of the guys used shrink tubing and the gas ate it up. If that does happen does it make those exposed wires a fire hazzard? I just am a little concerned about burnin my truck to the ground after doing all this work to it.

Any help will be a great help THANKS.........

Danny

You could use Teflon(PTFE) heat shrink and offset the 2 splices so that if they were exposed, they couldn't contact each other.

So will the gas and electricity thing be an issue if the spliced wires become exposed or is it only a issue if the two splices touch each other?

There is already "exposed" wiring at the connectors. You just don't want anything shorting out or any loose connections. Also, make sure everything is grounded as it was in the factory setup. For example, there was a ground to the metal FPR in my stock module. Should be OK with the proper heat shrink and wiring.
