Installed WCC C5 5.7 in my Yukon 4WD
#1
I pulled the West Coast Corvette motor from my vette this summer. It was just sitting around the shop so I though why not install it in my Yukon. This motor had its share of problems which is why I pulled it out in favor of a DRM built 427. All I can say about West Coast Corvettes is the Customer Service is Great until you get to the Top Daug. Didn't stand behind anything.. anyway enough of the rant and on to the switch..
Original 5.3 Dyno'ed @ 188rwhp
DRM Tuning of 5.3 Dyno'ed @ 211rwhp
While the tuning made a pretty big SOP difference it still wasn't enough. So in with the WCC head and cam 5.7 liter. This motor is suppost to make 425 Flywheel HP. The install went well, used the stock exhaust and intake for now. The block heater and one bolt from the A/C compressor bracket were the only items that didn't fit the Corvette block. With the DRM 5.3 Program the 1st dyno was a lousy 253rwhp Doug then set to getting a new program installed and we re-dyno'ed it @ 267rwhp...
It has the stock exhaust and intake including filter. This same set up made 330rwhp on the corvette. Which is pretty weak for a H/C vette but thats what West Coast Corvette provide the Guy who purchased it for a measley 16k... How much rwhp is being used up by the transfer case??
Oh, I have a 100hp wet shot on it too.. Didn't want to run that on the dyno though... I have more plans for the truck and expect it to be in the 475rwhp range by the end of February..Now for some wheels and tires..

Ripped427 are you sure that dyno was in 1st gear? You get more power if you went to a higher gear. Nearly everyone can get a dyno in 2nd gear, and some in 3rd. It all depends on tire size and gearing. In 3rd you will see the "correct" # because the transmission is in a 1:1 ratio.
267 RWHP in 1st will probably be more than 300 in 3rd. How does that Yukon feel with the LS1 over the old 5.3?
I suggest you move on from West Coast Corvettes.

No, it was dyno'ed in 3rd gear guys.. I' think anyway..After seeing results with a 4.8 headers ect.. I feel worse....It didn't perform well in the vette either...
The difference isn't that dramatic from just having the DRM computer tune. Actually re-programing the computer was the biggest bang so far...
The rev limiter was removed with the new program so I'm pretty sure it was dyno'ed in 3rd.

Ouch. Sorry man. Something is definitely wrong there. Go to another shop and have it looked over.
I have the LS6 vette cam in my 5.3 with headers, exhaust and intake and hit mid 270s in 2nd gear.
