Turn the key to "on" and push the gas pedal all the way down three times. Does that clear it?

Maybe that info for the oil light comes from the BCM or something.

I can't see any connection between the two.

Ok tried that and it won't clear it. I checked oil level and and for signs that it's leaking and everything seems good. This is really freaking me out. Any other suggestions?

Did a wire going to the oil level sensor or the sensor itself on the passenger side of the oil pan get damaged while messing with the trans or exhaust? That is my next guess.

I was thinking the same thing...maybe the connector to the sensor got knocked off or a wire got pinched. Do you think that it's possible that the sensor got stuck from tilting the engine when you removed the trans?

its actually four times push the gas pedal i think...and that resets the oil percentage to 100% if you have the driver information console thing w/ the steering wheel buttons. and youve probably done this already, but did you check the dipstick to see if your oil is actually low?

Maybe it's changed on newer trucks but, all the GM's I've owned in the past including my current 2000 it is only 3 hits of the gas pedal.
