Default Installed ported tb & got an SES light?!

I received my ported & polished tb I ordered from Mark Shaner yesterday and installed it this morning. Install only took about 40 minutes, hardest part was getting that little plastic C-clip off that holds the cruise control to the tb. Any way, after about 10 miles I get and SES light!?
When I got home, I disconnected the NEG terminal from the battery and took off the TB. I had to use the TPS and other sensor (idle control?) from my tb on the new tb, I made sure the screws were tight. I reinstalled the tb and snugged it up good to the intake manifold. Reconnected the battery and the SES light was still there, used my HPP to reset the SES light (loaded same settings). Started the truck (no SES light) and took it around the block and it ran fine, ran fine when the SES light came on the first time. The SES light was the down side, the up side is the the truck has better throttle response and idles better. Jumped on it one time and it pulled good but hard to tell if it's actually quicker. If the SES light comes back, what could it be? Could the greater airflow from the tb and GMS maf along with the HPP settings (93 tuning) cause the light? Any info would help.
Thanks, Jim

Where can one get ahold of a Shaner P&P TB? Don't they also offer powdercoating/polishing as well?

It is cool to see that you got a hold of him and got the TB finally. Didn't you just buy an ASP pulley too?

I'd leave the SES light on and see if you can get it ATAP'd or a quick jump to AutoZone to see what is causing it.

You may have too much timing with the MAF and the 93 tuning with the added air flow. I'd also try going to the 87 tuning again. Did you leave out any gaskets or anything like that?

Oh, this may sound stupid but my intake tube fell off my TB once and caused a SES light to come on and the LTrims were like 25% maxed out. There was tons of unmetered air coming in. I'd check you hoses too...

Last resort I'd call Shaner and see if he has any ideas.

Hope that helps somewhat...

I think maybe the TPS could be setting of the SES.I would make sure it isn't going under .6v closed or over 4.7v open

I will have the code checked if I get another SES light to see what it is, could just be coincidental. I put the 93 HPP tuning in a while ago with out any problems but my truck actually will run better with no tuning vs 87 tuning and the GMS maf. Yeah, I just got an ASP crank pulley too. . Hopefully my 1/4 time will drop a little but the weather has gone from 60's to 80-90's in the last week so the hot weather may prevent a lower time. I e-mailed Mark Shaner and he said it shouldn't cause a problem. But he too said the added airflow along a GMS and 93 tuning could be a problem. It's probably on my end, I tightened everything up real good on the re-install this time. The idle control sensor (or what ever it is) did have an O-ring to seal it when it was installed into the TB. I wonder if it got kinked or something? If I get another light, I'll pull the TB off and pull that sensor out and check the O-ring.

That ASP was rated at like 9.4rwhp or so in a GM car mag I read..er..browsed through at the grocery store a few weeks ago. That should give you .1 sec maybe. I'd be sure to get a tiny alternator pulley like a 1.75" one to help limit the undercharge.

Keep us posted when that TB problem gets resolved.
