Default Injector question...

I think we have an injector that is hanging/stuck open. It's on my son's truck. 60# injectors. Happened after I gently washed under the hood at the car wash. Started smoking--smelling like it is overfueled.

How do you check for an open injector? I pulled each injector wire and really couldn't tell a difference in the "miss" on any cylinder.

Thanks

Randy

Im not sure I can think of a way to make an injector stick open by gettin it wet. It seems more likely to me that you have soaked a sensor or its connector and that is in turn causeing a fueling or ignition error. For example if you have water trapped in the MAF, MAP, ignition coil or injector connector its going to run like poop until it gets dryed out. Are you getting any codes that might point you in a certain direction? If not you may need to start unpluging connectors, drying them and reconnecting them with some dielectric grease.

This happened about 2 months ago and still having the problem. Don't drive the truck hardly ever. Water should have dried out pretty quick after the initial wash.

No codes. Truck has SD tune so no MAF. I've tried unplugging each injector and they are clean. Engine doesn't seem to miss, just smoking from extra fuel load.

Good Idea, I haven't even thought of that. I drive a diesel and spark plugs were not in my thinking.

What should be the difference of the bad cylinder? More black/white?

Thanks Randy
