That is where I had mine. I move mine because of two things. One, F the stupid maf and the truck it rode in on. And two I wanted it after the meth nozzles.

I would be if you yield better (or worse) performance out of move your IAT around, your VE table is way out. Especially if the PCM is using complex cylinder charge logic....

Did this mod today using same parts. Clean install. Used a datalogger before and after and the drop was amazing compared to before. Now I need to figure out a way to get cooler temps. This hot air intake sucks

Did ths today too, but I actually put the sensor in the rubber base of my cai (where the tube meets the filter) what a difference it made temp wise. We did it while she was on the dyno jet too...saw a 3rwhp gain from something so simple!

This is another good thread w/ links to three others on relocating the IAT sensor to the GM EGR block-off on the intake, just behind the TB.

Interesting.

On my 97, the stock IAT is divorced from the 75mm aluminum body MAF.

My Marine Intake uses a combined IAT/MAP sensor that sits in teh top of the upper plenum. The stock truck sensor is simply a MAP sensor, so I removed the marine IAT/MAP combo and am running the truck MAP.

I have a new 85mm plastic body truck/01+ Vette MAF with an integral MAF/IAT sensor.
I bought the MAF/IAT leads for an LS6 Vette and got 5 of those cool butt connectors with the integral sealant.

So I have 3 options for IAT
1)Integral MAF/IAT
2)Divorced IAT in air intake tube
3)IAT/MAP combo that senses actual air temp inside the plenum.

I wonder if there is really a difference beween the 3?

peace

A lot of the difference is in the sensor itself, not necessarily its location. I would want to use either a IAT like the one in this thread possibly, or the old msd2320 piece which is discountinued but it appears is still available per google.

i dont see any power to add with this mod, but possibly with the removal of the maf all together.
