Default i want a locker

i notice most everyone here runs a posi on their trucks, only one i've seen that has a locker is oxidizr. what i want to know is which performs better in the truck with both street and track use, and which is better all around, what is the best brand of each and about how much is it gonna cost to get a good one of either.

I got me an Auburn from nationaldrivetrain.com. I got it for $299 and I am extremely happy with it. I hear toms and gearsareus have better prices.

If your on the street all the time then you want a Auburn because all your going to get with a locker is nice sounding BANG when it engages,(stop signs, lights, sharpe turns, ect...) this is with any lockers, detroit, ARB, lockright, ect... The limited slip is what prevents this by allowing the inside tire to turn before other locks up. Also if you want a locker be prepared to go thru tires a lot quicker too, as when ever you turn a corner the rearend will clunk and then the inside tire will begin chirping.

Admittedly in Jeeps and not in full size trucks, I've run Lock-Rights, Detroit Lockers, and now full blown spools. As stub25 said, it does bang and clunk around. With my lock-rights, ever so often it would get what they call "drive line wind up" and POW! It would sound like I broke an axle, but it was just binding. With lockers you will occasionally spin an inside tire or drag an outside tire on a tight turn.

Detroit lockers are 100% grade A pure beef. They will not wear out or break. You would break an axle shaft before you broke it. They run around $500 and replaces the carrier, so you would have to reset the gears. On top of that, you do get all the down sides common with lockers.

A tight LSD seems to be the best route for most folks street/strip machine.
