That block won't work with 8.1 or raylar heads. For performance applications that block can be built into a 1000+ monster, the ZL-1 aluminium big block, showed up in the late 1960s to dominate NHRA superstock and the old CanAm roadracing series.

Really and truly, the flow numbers on the Raylar heads aren't that impressive... they'd be impressive for an LSx motor, but we're talking about nearly 500 inches here. For big block heads, I'd look at Pro Action or AFR (for off-the-shelf pieces).

Are you sure??? I though a while ago some one did some conversons with a big block and found the the blocks and such were the same for the 8.1 and the BBC, the only real differnce being the intake, and the heads that match them but the heads bolt to the block like regular BB heads. ( oh and the firing order on the cam shaft as the firing order on the crank is the same just due to the cam parts of the crank get moved from the exhaust stroke to the intake and visa versa )
