Now you guys got me going. I'm more confused than ever <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Well I will wait and see how all of you do with your installs.
Fast4.8 - MTI is doing all of your work? I think we need them here in Hawaii too!
RED2K - Still going with the "Hot Cam" or Comp. I see that Lunati has cams for our engines. Anyone have any input on the Lunati's or the Crane LS-1 Powermax cams?
It's good to feel like a kid in a toystore! So many choices. I guess it's like Fast4.8 says, just get the one you want.

I think I am going to go ahead and get the hot cam. I cam get the cam springs and install for $387. Well I am going to get the one out of my buddies car. He has 20k on the setup. I am going to buy him just a cam and we will swap that way. I need the part number to the magnet set if anyone has it

ALL of you guys should spend more time in the internal engine section here. Our engines are all basically the same, and many of the parts are interchangable.
The hotcam? <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" />
my least favorite cam. The specs are just leftovers that were reheated from the popular LT4 hotcam. LT4s behave nothing like LS1s as far as cam specs are concerned. Sure, the hotcam is cheaper, but it also idles worse and makes less power than a simple B1 cam (221/221 .558/.558 114). If I ever stick a cam in this truck, it will be a single pattern B1, T1, or C1 camshaft.
A split exhaust like the hotcam gives up more torque in the midrange, and the ramp rates on those low-lift lobes are pretty mild compared to 90% of the other LS1 cams being sold. Sure, it lopes, but why sacrifice idle quality if you aren't making additional power?

With the smaller cubes, the cam is gonna act much bigger. I'll be putting in the 216/220...hopefully soon...while the new ls1 gets built. Then it's a new tranny for me. 3.90 gears/eaton and 26" et streets.
